Mexborough and District Amateur Radio Society 30/7/2011

The Mexborough & District Amateur Radio Society (MADARS) has been lucky enough to secure passage on the Yorkshire Belle on the 30th July 2011 for a full day of Maritime Mobile.  Sailing from the coastal resort of Bridlington, on the East Coast of England, they intend to operate both HF and 2 meter stations from on board the Yorkshire Belle with a support station nearby on land.

MADARS club has existed for over 43 years and has tremendous experience in running field day events.   This is the first Maritime Mobile event for the club and a great honour to be allowed access on the Yorkshire Belle.  The ship has been in continuous service since it’s launch in 1947 as a replacement for the original Yorkshire Belle, which had been used in the evacuation of Dunkirk.

Anyone wishing to contact Full License Holders working Maritime Mobile from the Yorkshire Belle should listen out from 9am onwards on the 30th of July.  Anyone wishing to take part in the event should contact Sharon Saiger on 07795225447.  Anyone interested in further information on the Yorkshire Belle can go to www.yorkshire-belle.co.uk or visit the MADARS website athttp://mexradioclub.webs.com/ or you can find us on facebook.
