Mexborough and District Amateur Radio Society 30/7/2011

The Mexborough & District Amateur Radio Society (MADARS) has been lucky enough to secure passage on the Yorkshire Belle on the 30th July 2011 for a full day of Maritime Mobile.  Sailing from the coastal resort of Bridlington, on the East Coast of England, they intend to operate both HF and 2 meter stations from on board the Yorkshire Belle with a support station nearby on land.

MADARS club has existed for over 43 years and has tremendous experience in running field day events.   This is the first Maritime Mobile event for the club and a great honour to be allowed access on the Yorkshire Belle.  The ship has been in continuous service since it’s launch in 1947 as a replacement for the original Yorkshire Belle, which had been used in the evacuation of Dunkirk.

Anyone wishing to contact Full License Holders working Maritime Mobile from the Yorkshire Belle should listen out from 9am onwards on the 30th of July.  Anyone wishing to take part in the event should contact Sharon Saiger on 07795225447.  Anyone interested in further information on the Yorkshire Belle can go to www.yorkshire-belle.co.uk or visit the MADARS website athttp://mexradioclub.webs.com/ or you can find us on facebook.

Watson W-8681 Solar Weather Stations.

W-8681-SOLAR Wireless Weather Station + Solar Powered Transmitter

 http://www.lamcommunications.net/shop/product_info.php?cPath=45&products_id=961

Price: £99.95 (Including VAT)

W-8681MKII Weather Station which comes with the W-8681-ST1 solar power transmitter instead of the standard battery powered transmitter.

The W-8681-ST1 wireless transmitter uses solar energy to recharge it’s internal AA size rechargeable batteries. This product will power all the sensors connected to it and transmit the data to the main unit.

The W-8681MKII is a wireless weather station that requires no connecting cable between the LCD monitor and the remote weather sensors. The range depends upon local obstructions but the normal 150m range will satisfy most requirements. The time and date are locked to the German DCF longwave atomic standard signal (can be received in UK) so the time is always right. This weather station offers amazing value and comes with everything you need to set it up in the garden. All hardware is included and the only items you need to supply are a short mast to attach the supplied stub mast and sensor assembly.

The LCD display is touch operated and allows comprehensive adjustment and correction for your location. It can also display historic data, and within the menu you can select imperial or metric values. Also included is a software programme that allows you to link your LCD panel to your PC via the included USB lead. From here you can not only programme the LCD panel, but you can also download stored data and then display it in data base format for keeping your own weather history. And if you are in an area or situation where weather plays a critical part, then you can switch on an alarm that can be triggered by any of the data sensors.
